The importance of website visibility

Walking through a reception area late last night, this article caught my eye with the dramatic heading of ‘Why your Web Designer is Destroying your Business’, quite a bold generalization, and a little unfair I thought. A quick read revealed its surprise author, Chris Cardell, a well respected internet marketing strategist… worth a read.

Beyond this dramatic title, there are actually some important considerations that do seem to be commonly overlooked by many Website Designers, and their clients.

A website is much like a store font on the high street, except, without the correct procedures it’s a very empty high street, it is so important to remember where your prospective clients may be looking for your products and services, and how these referrals get them to your ‘store front’; Google search, listings as ‘sponsored results’, Facebook, well-placed adverts on relevant information sites are just some of the thousands of routes that can be explored to your website. Rather worryingly, some Web Design firms do leave these omitted from their projects, completing only the ‘store front’ and often leaving their client in the dark.

This practice of omitting basic visibility, in my opinion, is madness for both the client and the service provider. As a Web Design company, we really want to see your business succeed, aside from the moral objective, not only does your success add value to our portfolio, a successful client offers potential repeat business and often recommendation among their peers. Most importantly, a successful website usually goes hand in hand with high levels of traffic, it’s an advertising banner for the company with thousands of potential clients all looking through a website that we have created.

The bottom line; ask questions, make demands, and make sure your web designer cares about your company – here at Nordic Creative, we most certainly do.
